This session is based on Eric Jensen’s research on engaging students with poverty in mind. Attendees will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge on how stress and trauma affect the brain. Topics discussed will include: actions for engagement, retrieval practices, and addressing achievement.

Topics in this session will include signs, symptoms and risk factors associated with a mental health concern. Attendees will be introduced to the suicide risk assessment process and the protocols to follow when a student returns to school after a mental health crisis.
